Freddie Scheepers is a young man with the motivation to succeed. He joined the Born in Africa programme in 2006. He comes from a severe impoverished family situation, yet has always had the motivation to rise above these circumstances.
We would like to introduce to you our Solakha Noyi who hails from Kwanokuthula, just outside Plettenberg Bay. Solakha joined Born in Africa while she was in high school attending Wittedrift High. Wow, we didn’t realise at first just exactly how talented and gifted this young lady was, until she unveiled to us all the projects and programs she was involved in.

On the 6th of February 2014, the award ceremony took place for the prestigious ING Solidarity Award. There were a total of 1440 participating teams. Besides receiving a reward for gaining an incredible total of 1373 votes in the open online vote, Born in Africa received an additional award of 10,000 € for being the favorite project of the jury.
Gino is a young man who lives with his mother and brother in Kranshoek. He comes from a family of six children. His mother is unemployed and suffers from a severe form of asthma, for which she receives a small disability allowance.
