Meet Our Partners
Thanks to the assistance of the following companies, organisations and businesses, BIA can run many different projects and has been able to touch the lives of so many children in the Bitou community. Together we can make a difference…
Biblionef SA
Established in 1998, Biblionef SA aims to promote a culture of reading amongst children by donating new storybooks in all 11 languages to schools and children’s organisations that are situated in rural and peri-urban areas of South Africa. Our target beneficiaries are children between the ages of 0-18 years of age that are attending the organisations mentioned above. The books we donate are skilfully selected to meet the specific needs of our beneficiaries; we ensure that the majority of our books are locally produced and written and that it contains beautiful illustrations and stories that South African children can relate to.
Born in Africa received to donations of reading books for all levels in 2018 and 2021 which helped us tremendously with setting up our own library in Kranshoek!

Siya Phambili
Born in Africa has often given the parents of children who belong to our program the opportunity to go on camps and workshops. Four of the ladies that went in 2005 decided to use the knowledge and skills they had gained to start a business. They wanted to produce unique handmade products, such as key chains and jewelry, using mainly beads.
The ladies decided to call the business Siya Phambili, which means “ moving forward”, and are currently creating jobs for other women in the surrounding community too. Born in Africa raised funds to build a work area and a shop for Siya Phambili. One of our volunteers, Adje Bos, helped to make the business more professional. The ladies have also gone on courses about accounting and English.
They are a wonderful example of what we stand for, making a difference together!

Syntegra Group
Syntegra Group is delighted to announce it is supporting a bursary to high potential students in the Bitou district of South Africa who wish to pursue a career in STEM. The Tony Wing-King Bursary is named in honour of Syntegra MD Alan King’s late father who was born in South Africa and became a recognised building services engineer specialising in Complex Hospitals around the globe. He was pivotal in the early years at Syntegra as it developed its credentials as a leading sustainability solutions provider but sadly he succumbed to cancer in 2018.
Alan said: “Five years after his untimely death, we loop full circle to continue my father’s legacy from where it all began for him growing up. Anything we can do to foster growth in this critical and exciting area of learning is a privilege and I am confident worthy recipients will be identified and we look forward to charting their STEM journey and seeing what unfolds for them.”
