Chandre Plaatjies

Chandre grew up in Kurland Village in The Crags (about 20 km east of Plettenberg Bay). Chandre, her mother, stepfather and younger sister live in a small RDP house (Rural Development Programme). The house is not very big and the family have no access to running water in the house. Chandre's parents run a small shop next to the house where they sell household products. Chandre is a leader of the choir.

After completing her high school at Wittedrift High, Chandre went on to completing a three year Diploma in Educare through South Cape College in George. She is now studying teaching Foundation Phase (Gr R- 3) through the University of South Africa which is a distance learning programme. While she is completing this programme, she is an assistant teacher for Born in Africa at The Crags Primary. Good luck on finishing your studies Chandre.
