Siya Phambili
Born in Africa has often given the parents of children who belong to our program the opportunity to go on camps and workshops. Four of the ladies that went in 2005 decided to use the knowledge and skills they had gained to start a business. They wanted to produce unique handmade products, such as key chains and jewelry, using mainly beads.
The ladies decided to call the business Siya Phambili, which means “ moving forward”, and are currently creating jobs for other women in the surrounding community too. Born in Africa raised funds to build a work area and a shop for Siya Phambili. One of our volunteers, Adje Bos, helped to make the business more professional.
